Judges close each section

What changes on event day when sections only close once every judge has pressed Close section, how to switch it on, and what to do when a judge cannot press.

With Judges close each section switched on (Edit Event: Results and Scoring), a section never closes by itself. Without it, the section closes the moment every judge has scored every entry, and the next item, often an awards ceremony, opens straight away. With it, the judges close the section, and nothing after it starts until they say so.

What the judges do

  1. Once a judge has scored every entry they see the review screen. They can tap Back to entries, or any row, to change a score. Nothing is locked yet.
  2. They tap Close section. A confirm names any dancer who is out of section and says they can still be scored on the next screen.
  3. They wait on "N of M ready". Go back takes their press back.
  4. The section closes when every judge on the section has pressed Close and every entry has every score.
  5. A start screen follows every section, whether or not a dancer is waiting. It names the next item and shows the Out of section list. Out of section dancers can be scored here, while the next ceremony has not started, so they still place.
  6. For the next section the judges press Start next section. For a ceremony or break they press Ready and the MC runs it.

What the MC sees

While the judges review, the MC page shows Waiting for judges to close with who has not pressed. After the close, a held ceremony or break shows Waiting for judges, and Next is disabled until the judges press Ready. The live schedule says Judges reviewing and then Starting soon.

Switching it on

  • In-person events only, like out-of-section judging.
  • Switch it on or off only on a day with no live session, so every judge's tablet is on the same version.
  • Battles and placement sessions close on their own as before.

A judge cannot press

A tablet that died or a judge who left does not need an extra button: mark the judge offline on the judges page or from the MC page. They leave the list of judges the section waits for, and a close or Ready the others already pressed completes within seconds. There is no organiser or MC Close button by design.

If a fully scored section waits more than 10 minutes for presses, the system raises an alert so someone checks.
