The Registration Questions feature lets you collect any custom information you need from each dancer registered for your event. Common uses include t-shirt sizes, food allergies, accessibility needs, special requests, and parental consent details.
How It Works
- You define the questions in the event settings. Set the label, optional help text, and whether each question is required.
- Dancers see a yellow banner on their portal dashboard reminding them to answer.
- Studios can answer on behalf of their dancers from their own portal page.
- You see a live count of who still needs to answer.
Setting Up Questions
- Open your event in the Event Editor.
- In the sidebar, click Registration Questions.
- Toggle Enable Registration Questions on.
- Click Add Question for each piece of info you want to collect.
- For each question, fill in:
- Label: the question itself (e.g. "T-shirt size")
- Help text (optional): extra guidance shown under the label (e.g. "Adult sizes only: XS to XXL")
- Required: toggle on if a dancer must answer this before they're considered complete
- Use the up/down arrows to reorder questions, or click delete to remove one.
- Click Save when you're done.
You can come back at any time to add, remove, or reorder questions. Existing answers won't be lost.
Required vs Optional
| Type | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Required | Counts toward the dancer's "outstanding" status. Dancers and studios are shown a yellow reminder until all required questions are answered. |
| Optional | Always available to answer but never blocks completion or triggers reminders. |
Tips
- Keep labels short and clear. Long questions are harder to scan
- Use the help text field for examples or constraints (e.g. "max 100 characters")
- Mark only truly necessary questions as required. Too many required fields slows down studios
- You can disable the feature at any time without deleting questions or answers
