How Do I Add Another Dancer?

Two ways to manage multiple dancers: Guardian account or separate accounts.

There are two ways to add another dancer on Kompdesk. Each has different benefits depending on your situation.

Option 1: Create a Parent/Guardian Account (Recommended)

A Parent/Guardian account lets you manage several dancers from a single login. This is the best option for parents and caregivers.

How to set it up:

  1. Register as a Parent/Guardian at the event registration page. Choose the Parent/Guardian card
  2. In the Parent/Guardian Portal, go to My Dancers
  3. Claim Existing Dancer to bring your current dancer's profile across, so you don't lose any data
  4. Click Create Dancer to make a profile for your second dancer
  5. Choose Studio dancer and verify the studio code from their dance school, or choose Independent dancer if they enter events without a studio
  6. Repeat for as many dancers as you need

Benefits of a Parent/Guardian account:

  • Single login: manage all your dancers from one account and one dashboard
  • Unified view: see schedules, entries, and results for all your dancers in one place
  • Easier event registration: register any of your dancers for competitions without switching accounts
  • No extra email addresses needed: one email, one account, multiple dancers
  • Claim existing profiles: link dancer profiles that already exist (e.g., created by a studio) without losing any data

Option 2: Create a Separate Account with a Different Email

Each Kompdesk account is tied to a unique email address. If you prefer each dancer to have their own independent account, you can create a second account using a different email.

How to set it up:

  1. Sign out of your current account
  2. Register a new account using a different email address
  3. Complete the registration as a Dancer for the new dancer
  4. Each dancer logs in with their own email and password

Benefits of separate accounts:

  • Independent access: each dancer can log in on their own device and manage their own profile
  • Privacy: each dancer only sees their own scores, results, and feedback
  • Suited for older dancers: teens or adult dancers who want to manage their own competition experience
  • Separate notifications: each account receives its own emails and updates

Which Option Should I Choose?

SituationRecommended Option
Parent managing young childrenGuardian account
Parent with multiple children at different studiosGuardian account
Teen dancer who wants their own loginSeparate account
Adult dancer registering alongside a childSeparate account for the adult and a Guardian account for the child
Two siblings who both want their own loginsSeparate accounts (or a Parent/Guardian account alongside individual dancer accounts)

Can I Use Both Options Together?

Yes. For example, you can have a Parent/Guardian account to manage your younger children, while an older child has their own separate dancer account. Both the guardian and the dancer can be linked to the same dancer profile. The guardian keeps oversight while the dancer has independent access.

Do I Lose Any Existing Data?

No. Whether you claim an existing dancer profile through the Parent/Guardian Portal or continue using a separate account, all registration data, entries, and history are preserved. Nothing is lost or duplicated.
