The Awards Settings section in the Event Editor lets you manage gala evening nominations and custom awards on an event that already exists, including a live one. It's the equivalent of Wizard Step 12: Custom Awards, available any time after the event is created.
Opening Awards Settings
- Open the event and go to the Awards Settings section.
- It opens in read-only View Mode, showing the current gala setting and a table of configured awards.
- Click Edit Section to make changes.
Gala Evening
Toggle "Allow Judges to Nominate for Gala Evening":
- When on, judges get a "Nominate for Gala" option on every scorecard.
- The gala toggle is saved when you click Save Changes at the bottom of the section.
Custom Awards / Judge Nominations
- Click Add Award.
- Enter the Award Name, choose the Award Type, select a section if the type is Top Score in Section, and add an optional Description.
- Click Add.
The awards table lists each award's name, type, section (if applicable), and description, with a trash icon to remove it.
Custom awards save immediately. Adding or removing a custom award writes to the event straight away. You do not need to click "Save Changes" for it. "Save Changes" only persists the gala-evening toggle. (Removing asks you to confirm first.)
Award Types and Rules
These are the same as in the wizard:
- Judge Nomination: judges nominate the recipient on their scorecard.
- Top Score in Section: automatic; highest score in a chosen section (battle / placement sections aren't eligible).
- Top Score Overall: automatic; highest score across the event. Only one is allowed, and it's revealed after all schedule days complete.
Award names must be unique. For help choosing a type, see the How to Add a Custom Award article. To view winners and nominees, see Awards and Winners Management.
