Skipping an Entry

How to skip a dancer who is not ready, score them later in the same section, and what happens if the section finishes without them.

Sometimes a dancer is not ready when their turn comes: running late, a costume change, not backstage yet. Rather than holding up the section, skip the entry and come back to it.

Note: Skipping is for standard performance sections. In battle and placement sections use Skip to Next Section instead; those entries cannot be skipped one at a time.

How to skip

  1. On the entry of a dancer who is not ready, tap Skip.
  2. When the event allows dancers to perform outside their section, you confirm first. The skip is yours: a reload clears it, and the dancer is still in the section.
  3. You move on to the next entry. The skipped entry carries a yellow Skipped badge.

Skipping is one tap and does not hold up the running order: you score the next dancers, and the skipped one comes back before the section can finish.

Scoring a skipped dancer in the section

The common case: the dancer turns up a few entries later.

  • Use Prev and Next to reach the skipped entry and score it as normal, or
  • finish the other entries: the skipped ones are presented again one by one before the section-complete screen.

If the dancer is still not there, you have two choices. Move to out of section (only when the event allows dancers to perform outside their section) sends them to the Out of section list for every judge: the section can finish without them and they are scored later, from the list, when the MC opens a gap. Scratch dancer is for a dancer who will not dance at all: it records a zero from you and they stay in this section. Both ask you to confirm. Move to out of section is offered on every pass, so you need not skip first.

A dancer scored in the section by every judge is done. Nothing else happens.

Scoring from the Out of section list

Tap Score now on a dancer in the list when they walk on stage. Every judge on the panel must score the same dancer at the same time: your screen says "Waiting for other judges" until each of them has tapped Score now too, then the scorecard opens for everyone at once. Go back takes you out of the wait if you tapped the wrong dancer.

If the section finishes without them

A skipped dancer keeps the section open. It finishes only once each skipped dancer is scored, scratched, or (when the event allows dancers to perform outside their section) sent to the Out of section list with Move to out of section. The section-complete screen then says how many will be scored out of section. See Skip, Scratch dancer and the Out of section list.

When the event does not allow it, a skipped dancer must be scored or scratched before the section can complete.

Scratch dancer

For a dancer who is not going to perform at all, tap Scratch dancer. It records a zero from you and the dancer is left out of placements and awards. They do not go to the Out of section list. Each judge taps it for themselves.

Reloading the page

Your scores are saved as you submit them. The Skipped badge is on your device only and a reload clears it; the dancer is still in the section and can be scored as normal. Once someone taps Move to out of section, the dancer is on the Out of section list on every judge's device, and that survives a reload.
