Music Upload Overview

Understand how music uploads work in Kompdesk.

Kompdesk lets studios and dancers upload music files directly to their competition entries. Organisers enable this feature per competition, and the tech team can access a live playback page on event day.

How It Works

  1. Organiser enables music upload in the competition settings or wizard
  2. Studios and dancers upload MP3 or WAV files when creating or editing entries
  3. Music is validated automatically (file type, size, duration, and quality)
  4. Tech team accesses a dedicated playback page with all music organised by schedule section

Supported Formats

FormatExtensionNotes
MP3.mp3Most common. Recommended for smaller file sizes
WAV.wavUncompressed, lossless. Larger files but highest quality

File Size Limit

The maximum file size is 50 MB. Most competition tracks in MP3 format are well under this limit.

Key Features

  • Drag-and-drop upload: drop your file or click to browse
  • Automatic duration detection: no need to enter duration manually
  • Bitrate quality check: warns if audio quality is below the organiser's minimum
  • Time limit comparison: alerts if your music exceeds the entry's time limit
  • Background upload: uploads continue even if you navigate away
  • Offline playback: tech team can pre-cache all music for event-day use
