A Production / Showcase is a live, ticketed, non-competitive event: a recital, showcase, or full production. You build a programme of performances, each with linked cast members and music, sell spectator tickets, and run the show live with the same MC tools, live schedule, and check-in used for competitions.
There are no judges, no scoring, no results, no entry fees, and no public registration. You curate everything.
Creating a Production
- From the Organizer Dashboard, click "Create Event"
- Choose the Production / Showcase card
- The wizard shows only the steps a show needs: Basics, Venue, Tickets, Terms, Info, Music, and Review
There are no age groups, styles, levels, sections, fees, scoring, or awards to configure.
Building Your Programme
The schedule is the show, so performances are created right inside the Schedule Builder:
- Open Schedule from the Event Dashboard and add your show day(s)
- The left panel is the Performances panel: press "Add Performance" to create a performance and place it on the selected day in one step
- Drag items on the timeline to set your running order
- Add breaks or an intermission between performances just like any schedule item
Each performance has:
- A name (required): this is what the audience sees on the programme
- Performers: cast members linked to the performance, picked from your cast list
- Music (optional): uploads continue in the background while you keep working, and the performance's duration auto-fills from the track length
- Internal notes: visible to you and the MC only, never to the audience
Use "Add and Next" to enter a long programme quickly. It saves the performance and immediately opens a fresh form.
You can also manage performances from the dashboard's Performances tab. Performances created there start as Unscheduled and appear in the builder's Performances panel ready to place.
Managing Your Cast
The dashboard's Cast tab lists everyone performing in your production.
- Add Cast Member searches existing Kompdesk profiles by name, or creates a new profile
- A duplicate guard shows existing people with the same surname before creating someone new. Select the existing person rather than creating a duplicate
- Cast members with a Kompdesk dancer account automatically see the event, the programme, and their own performances in their portal
You can add your whole cast first and then link performers while creating performances, or link performers as you go.
Music and the Tech Team
- Upload one track per performance (in the performance form or the Music Files tab)
- The Music Player gives your sound/tech team a dedicated playback view that follows the live schedule, performance by performance
Tickets
Ticketing works exactly as it does for competitions: configure ticket types and per-day capacity on the wizard's Tickets step (or the Tickets page later), and spectators buy online or at the door.
Productions are never publicly listed: there is no public registration to discover. Share your event's ticket link (from the dashboard's sharing links) with your audience; that link is also where ticket-holders follow the live programme.
Publishing and Tokens
Publishing a production uses a standard day-tiered event token: the same tokens used for in-person competitions; there is no separate production token. Pick the tier that fits your show's days and programme size (your performances count toward the tier's entries allowance).
Show Day
- Cast Check-In: mark cast members as arrived so you know who's in the building (enable it in the Event Editor under Cast Check-In)
- Your MC runs the show from the MC view, advancing the programme performance by performance. The live schedule follows along
- The audience follows the Spectator Program, the live running order, via the ticket link; tapping a performance shows its performers (internal notes stay private)
